Electronic Arts - OCCO
Assistant Producer / Games Analyst
About the OCCO:

The Office of the Chief Creative Officer (OCCO) is a department consisting of the Chief Creative Officer, Chief Technical Officer, and other valuable members of Electronic Arts. While several members of this office are permanent, many are temporary to the department, working on side projects until moving on to their next game or in the prototype phase of a new IP. Each individual in this team works independently or in small 2-3 person teams, investigating, implementing, and researching new technologies and methods to improve or innovate game development within Electronic Arts. As such, much of which is worked on is kept under Nondisclosure Agreement.

About RAM Testing:

Relative Accessibility Metrics (RAM) Testing is a small team of assistant producers under the Chief Creative Officer in the OCCO that focuses on the analysis and reporting of accessibility metrics in order to improve the design of in-production or soon-to-be-in-production EA titles in various EA Studio locations. With measurable data taken from observing and analyzing groups of players, RAM Testing can provide valid and statistically supported game analysis to pursuade decisions in game design.

About My Role:

I took this position during my final semester as an ETC Graduate Student for a Spring 2010 Semester Co-op. While much of my work was run very independently, I coordinated testing schedules and collaborated with coworkers to make sure we were maintaining our goals.

My responsibilites as an assistant producer and games analyst in the OCCO included the following:

  • Analyzing data & reporting design metrics through written documents emailed to select individuals in EA Studios cross-country. Reports included design analysis of Madden 11 during production and general comparison between fighting games.
  • Scheduling, planning, & running playtests with external users recruited from around the SF Bay Area communities
  • Coordinating testing goals between our office & studios cross-country, primarily with EA Tiburon and EA Canada.
  • Streamlining test archiving for future RAM employees by organizing our server files and setting up an standard archiving format.
  • Maintain in-office schedule board.
