Quick-Step Thief
A Hopscotch Mod
Description
Quick-Step Thief is a mod on the classic game of Hopscotch. It was created in 1 week as the first assignment for Jesse Schell's Game Design class.
Design/Concept
From research, Hopscotch is most enjoyed as a multi-player game, so I wanted to incorporate elements in to this mod that enhanced that aspect.
I kept the key element of hopscotch because I did not want to destroy its heart. These elements I listed out as hopping spaces, portability, risk, physical challenge, and competition.
I changed the game to add more risk by creating a 3rd party to the game, a trap-layer. The trap layer would identify a space as the trap, creating a personal aspect to the game as players would have to try to determine from the trap layer's face whether they were close to setting off the trap.
The goal of the hoppers is to reach the goal, collect a bounty, and return to base. The goal of the trap-layer was to knock the other players out of the game by marking certain spaces as traps. The hopper who collected the most at the end won.
